Storytelling, Culture & Learning

Workshops, learning journeys and shared experiences shaped by myth, culture and the living world.

I design and facilitate storytelling experiences that draw from African mythology, global folklore and ecological knowledge. These sessions use story as a way to learn, reflect, remember and reconnect with ourselves, with one another, and with the world around us.

This work supports children, adults, and communities in exploring imagination, culture, and belonging through story-led learning.

Why Story?

Stories carry memory. They hold cultural knowledge, ecological wisdom and emotional truth. Across many traditions, stories have always been how we teach, how we remember and how we make sense of change.

By returning to myth and storytelling, we create opportunities to slow down, ask deeper questions, explore identity,  and cultivate imagination.

Storytelling, Culture & Learning

How this work takes shape

Each experience is shaped by the people, place and purpose involved. I work across schools, community spaces, cultural settings and outdoor environments, creating learning journeys that are participatory, reflective and rooted in care. Story is used not as content to consume, but as a tool for:

  • listening

  • meaning-making

  • creative expression

  • collective reflection

Sessions are designed to meet people where they are, honouring lived experience, curiosity and cultural memory.

What these experiences might include

Depending on the context, this work can involve:

  • storytelling sessions rooted in African mythology and folktales

  • creative writing and imaginative response

  • drawing, making and visual storytelling

  • sound, music and listening practices

  • outdoor story walks and nature-based reflection

  • intergenerational storytelling spaces

  • learning through myth, symbol and metaphor

Stories may be told, read, listened to, rewritten, continued or responded to creatively. The emphasis is always on participation rather than performance.

Who is this for?

  • schools and educators

  • community groups and CICs

  • families and intergenerational groups

  • cultural organisations and libraries

  • youth groups and adult learning spaces

  • organisations exploring culture, wellbeing and belonging

Sessions can be adapted for different ages, access needs and learning styles.

If you are interested in workshops, facilitated sessions or story-led learning experiences for your school, community or organisation, I would love to explore what we can create together.
